The state of emergency has extended until June 20 in Tokyo, Hokkaido, Aichi, Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Okayama, Hiroshima, and Fukuoka even though the graph seems to indicate bit passed its peak. I guess the reason of extension is because vaccination coverage is extremely low, 0.19%. Which means, the number of new cases would immediately increase once the declaration is lifted, I think. It's obvious that the situation surrounding us isn't a positive outlook.
Looking at the situation of US, about 40% of the population has already been fully vaccinated and the number of new cases decreased drastically. Even though tourists can be vaccinated in New York since the number of vaccines is well reserved. I saw a TV interview of a Japanese middle-aged couple, getting tired of waiting vaccine, who will visit New York. If I had time and money, that would be definitely my option too.
In this unbelievably bad circumstance, Japanese government hasn't given up holding Tokyo Olympics in two months yet. Most of us cannot understand why our government sticks to hold it. Perhaps, a large amount of compensation to IOC!? I simply don’t feel right and wonder there might be a secret agreement that politicians never be able to cancel. I have absolutely no idea for the true reason. Will Tokyo Olympics be held two months later? As one good honest civilian, I would say this to you that, We never know!
